Family Game Night, with a twist and shout!
If you are looking for some great indoor family fun, you need to check out Monster Mini Golf in Marietta. My husband and I, and our four kids, (plus a friend!) who range in age from 7-13 recently spent a Saturday evening there and had a blast. When we left for the evening, we weren’t even out of the parking lot and they were asking when we could go back!
When you first walk in, there is a large area filled with arcade games. All the machines run on quarters so there are no tokens to buy, and you can get change at the desk or a machine by the door. There are your typical arcade games, plus a pool table and a few other fun extras. The interior of the building is dark but decorated with glow-in-the-dark paint and monsters, and lit with mostly black light so everything light or neon-colored glows brightly. The “monsters” are more silly and fun than scary. We set out to play a round of mini golf first. Everyone was given a club and a different colored glow-in-the-dark ball. In one corner of the mini golf area, there is a DJ in a booth. We enjoyed the upbeat, mostly 80’s music mix, dancing our way through the game. The course itself is relatively easy, but enough of a challenge to provide some fun competition. I won’t spoil the surprises, but there are several along the way to keep things interesting. I may or may not have screamed out loud once, resulting in uncontrollable laughter from my children.
At the end of the game of mini golf, when you turn in your scorecard, if someone’s score matches the “magic number” they’ll get to spin a wheel and win a prize. We didn’t have anyone matching the number, but the lowest scoring member of our group (not mentioning any names) was awarded a prize anyway!
In addition to all the family fun, there are party rooms available. I was able to check these out and there are two large, open rooms that can be combined if you had a group that was too big for one room. Staying true to the “monster” theme, these are decorated in fun haunted mansion style decor, with accents that glow in the dark. The rooms have plenty of seating, and even a high chair for a tiny guest. My 13yo was impressed and considering returning for a party when her birthday rolls around. Party packages start at $175 and include: 18 holes of mini-golf, private party room, full size refrigerator with freezer, plenty of room for food, pizza…etc. paper plates & cups, bowls for chips, microwave, ice cream scoop, napkins & utensils, cake knife and cake server, ice for drinks and nicely decorated tables so you really do not need any decorations! Free birthday invites are included as well. You can bring your own food and drinks, or have it catered.
So, if you’re looking for something a little different for Family Game Night, or it’s raining, or too hot outside, or just because, I would highly recommend you check out Monster Mini Golf! Be sure to wear light or neon colored clothing so you can all glow in the dark with the decorations!
Pricing: Little Monsters $7, Big Monsters $8 (a 3-month season pass is just $25) Gift Certificates are also available. Check their website for hours, special monthly deals, and contests!
Disclosure: My family and I have been going here for years, and we love it. I wrote a post about it a while back, for which Monster Mini Golf was thankful. They offered me tickets to return, but we sent our Events Editor instead because another perspective is always helpful!! Still a family-favorite. #keepingitreal
