Empire State South | Atlanta, Ga999 Peachtree Street NE, Ste 140 Atlanta, Ga
Brunch at Empire State South is laid-back, relaxing, and delicious. While they open earlier, brunch does not begin until 10:30 on Sunday. If you need a Mimosa or Bloody Mary with your breakfast, you’ll want to wait until 12:30 because of the laws in Fulton County. Don’t worry; they do brunch until 3pm.
We arrived a little early, so we ordered coffee from the bar. It’s served emerssion style with a Chemex, and is supreme enough to drink black, even by this “cream and sugar” girl. While you’re waiting be sure to look around the restaurant. I love the mix of antiue woods with high quality textiles, and glass touches. It is very comfortable and cozy.
If the weather is cooperating, do what you can to sit on the patio. We visited a few days before fall, so the weather was warm, but the breeze was perfect. On the courtyard you can lpunge in oversized lawn chairs, ro try your hand at Bocce Ball.
The food…OMG. Divine. I had a fried sticky rice mixed with mushrooms, hotdog pieces, frenched green beans…all hidden under a perfectly cooked fried egg. Hubs elected the ham and english muffin, with a fried egg, asparagus, maple covered bacon, and deliciously cheesy grits.
If you can’t make brunch, dinner is just as wonderful. And if you can’t find a sitter…the outside seating makes this a fun place to bring the kids!
Disclosure: Brunch was hubby’s idea. No one paid us or comped us. As always, if I didn’t think it was killer, I wouldn’t write about. #keepingitreal
