Escape the Room

10 Terrifying Escape the Room Venues in Atlanta

What is the escape the room game? It’s basically a mystery. You are locked in a room with a team of players. There are clues inside the room to help you solve the mystery, but to get to the clues, you’ll first have to solve puzzles, crack codes and really test your brain. It’s a ton of fun, and not as easy as you might think. What surprised me most was that it wasn’t just one room, but a series of rooms, so just as you think you’ve won, you have more clues to solve.

Since I have older boys who have aged out of trick-or-treating, as well as a younger son who has not, we’re planning a family outing to Escape the Room to celebrate the season. There are several companies with various escape the room locations. Each company/location has several different escape the room games. Below are 10 escape room companies with a scenario that sounded fun for Halloween. If you’d like to suggestion one, please do in the comments.

BreakOut Atlanta

The Kidnapping
3867 Roswell Rd NE, Ste 200 | Atlanta, GA 30342 | 404-800-9297
6375 Spalding Dr, Ste H | Peachtree Corners, GA 30092 | 404-620-2477

The kidnapping begins with you and your fellow captives waking up handcuffed and blindfolded in a strange room. With nothing but collective brainpower, hidden clues and 60 minutes on your side, you have to free yourselves before the kidnapper returns. A heart-pumping thriller from start to finish, you can expect a rush of non-stop fun. We were too chicken to try the Kidnapping. (Ok, I was too chicken because I didn’t want to be handcuffed) but we did try the Casino Royale game. In the end, we just missed getting out, but it was a fun activity for the entire family (13 – 50 years-old) could to do together.

Mastermind Escape the Room

OutBreak: Find the Cure
297 Dividend Dr. | Peachtree City, GA 30269 | 404-793-1541

The lab you are working in at the CDC has been locked down because a deadly virus has been released into the ventilation system. You must find a cure before you can escape from the room. Everything you need is in the lab, but you must work quickly, you only have 60 minutes before it kills you. I did this one as part of a press trip and loved it. It might be a little freaky for younger kids, but not too bad and it was challenging, interesting and it wasn’t too linear – I felt like our group could work on different clues at the same time.
