Recently I took a quick trip to Panama City Beach, Florida to check out a newly renovated property situated on historic St. Andrews Bay. Fresh off a $30 million facelift, the resort is packed with new and refreshed amenities that include something for everyone. Here are 7 reasons your family will love Sheraton Bay Point Resort!
Families will love guest rooms and suites with beautifully redone interiors featuring inviting color schemes, updated bathrooms with lovely products, comfy beds and modern fixtures. Enjoy a special treat with a chaise lounge in your room and keep some extra drinks in the mini fridge. Luxurious robes add to the experience as well.
Sheraton Bay Point Resort has several on-site restaurant choices and we tried as many as we could in the short visit. If you’re in a hurry and just want coffee and a pastry, Cabana Café will be your go-to spot opening at 6 each morning. We enjoyed leisurely mornings at Tides Restaurant ordering from the breakfast menu (toast, eggs, bacon, fruit, oatmeal, etc.) and enjoying the fabulous views of the water, boats and wildlife.
Our favorite restaurant was a spot we hit up more than once (lunch and dinner) – Flip-Flops Pool Bar. An outdoor venue, they have a large bayside deck with a covered area if you don’t want sun while eating. The menu offers flavorful, creative options for adults while catering to kids as well with staple items like grilled cheese and chicken fingers. They have custom cocktails and locally crafted beer as well. It’s affordable, casual and especially captivating at sunset.
There is also Pelican’s Bar & Grill (open seasonally) down the boardwalk for waterfront dining and just hanging out. They have scrumptious fish tacos and burgers as well as cold beer and frozen concoctions. Bonuses are the sunsets and live music.
Serenity Spa is a full-service spa with a lovely menu including choices of relaxing massages (I had the Swedish and can attest to the magnificence), salon services, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, relaxation area and lockers. The spa is a nice way to wind down and rejuvenate.
The Fitness Center is packed with new, state-of-the-art equipment and the best workout views available anywhere! Additionally, there is Saturday morning yoga outdoors.
Outdoor recreation encompasses things for all ages and genders. There are two 18-hole golf courses, five HydroGrid® clay tennis courts, bike and paddle board rentals, resort pools and a small private beach area that is perfect for building sand castles and enjoying just being outside.
Shell Island is a private, seven-mile barrier island between the Gulf of Mexico and St. Andrews Bay with the western end actually being part of St. Andrews State Park. It is brimming with simplistic beauty. Bring your own coolers and other beach supplies or rent things like snorkel gear, umbrellas and chairs from the shuttle boat – Bay Point Lady Shell Island Shuttle.
You can book it right from the front desk with several options for times to go over to Shell Island and return. It is a 20-minute ride each way. Please note that there are no restrooms, concessions or trash receptacles. I took snacks and drinks, plenty of sunscreen, towels and a plastic grocery bag for any trash. There is a boardwalk straight from the pier to the beach making it easily accessible. This is a great family activity when staying at Sheraton Bay Point Resort, and in fact I would make it a priority.
Sheraton Bay Point Resort offers amazing views and is the perfect Florida panhandle getaway. It’s the only AAA Four Diamond Resort in the area with tons of natural beauty and resort activities to boot.
I almost forgot to mention that it’s pet friendly! You can inquire about hotel rooms or villas offering lodging that includes your pet.
From the grand lobby to the water’s edge, this property is spectacular for work or play with tons of meeting space prime for team building and conferences. And, lastly, the property couldn’t be better for saying I do.
