41 Things to Do in Alpharetta, Ga That We’re Obsessed With

There are so many wonderful things to do in Alpharetta, Ga …it’s one of our favorite Metro neighborhoods! There are exciting things for date night or for family time….

In fact, hubs and I scheduled our monthly date night for Alpharetta this month, but the sitter fell through at the last minute! Rather than cancel, we just changed our mindset and put together a very memorable and adventurous Family Date Night. Easy-peasy, especially with all that Alpharetta has to offer.

5 Seasons Brewing – Looking for a fantastic craft brew, delicious eats and an atmosphere that works for the kids? Check out 5 Seasons Brewing….we LOVE the food and fun here (see our review on the Midtown location.)

All Fired Up – Paint pottery, try glass fusing, hand-bake a clay creation and more! Have fun with an art class for the who family.

Alpharetta Art in the Park – This outdoor artist market runs rain or shine April – September one Saturday each month. Check for the next date via the link. FREE top shop.

Alpharetta Family Skate – The family that ice skates together, stays together! There is also roller skating, and discounts for the kiddos.

Alpharetta Farmers Market – Shop for fruits, veggies, meats and flowers in Downtown Alpharetta. Head there Saturday mornings until 1pm from April through all of October. FREE to shop.

Alpharetta Food Truck Alley – It’s such a fun way to explore new eats and satisfy a family with all different cravings. It runs every Thursday through the end of October, 5pm – 9pm. Expect 6-8 trucks plus live music on various weeks.

American Girl Boutique & Bistro – If your little ones love their American Girl Doll, then head to North Point Mall where you’ll find the Southeast’s only American Girl Store. Shop the store and then head for lunch or a snack at the Bistro. Read more about Alpharetta’s American Girl Experiences here. FREE to shop.

Atlanta Marriott Alpharetta – This is where we stayed on out Family Date Night, and the boys ADORE it! If you have an American Girl Fan then opt for the American Girl Package. If your kiddos are like ours they will be wow’d by the TWO pools – one indoor and one outdoor ensure there is water fun available all year long!

Avalon – Sure, you can do some shopping (this is my go-to place,) but there is so much more. TONS of delicious restaurants (our favorites made this list on their own right,) a movie theatre, a tot spot…and we love the Living Room with comfy seats and swings, bocce ball court, fro-yo location and even firepits in the warmer months. Don’t miss Little Acorns on Tuesdays, ice skating in the winter, Punchline for a date night without the kiddos, and so many other great events! FREE to park and shop.

Bantam + Biddy – Bantam + Biddy is great any time of day, with organics and kid-friendly eats that are yum…but breakfast is ALWAYS my favorite way to chow down here. The Southern includes eggs, grits, pimento cheese, friend okra and jalapenos, peppered bacon and jalapeno cornbread. The kids are all over the French toast. Insider Tip: The crowd is slow on Sunday mornings…this is the perfect brunch location with little to no crowds inside Avalon.

Big Creek Greenway Bike Share – Did you know Alpharetta offers a FREE bike share program. Check out a bike at four different locations for up to three hours. After that, they are $3 per hour. What a fun way to explore!

  • Big Creek Greenway at North Point, 6698 North Point Parkway
  • Rock Mill Park, 3100 Kimball Bridge Road
  • Alpharetta YMCA, 3655 Preston Ridge Road
  •  Avalon, Central Parking Deck

Bocado Burger – Who doesn’t love a KILLER burger. Bocado is the place to get it! We also love their partnerships with other great local eateries like High Road Ice Cream, Sweetgrass Dairy, H&F Bread and more.

Colletta – So, I’ll be honest. Colletta is one of my favorite OTP restaurants. I love eating here! Come early and bring the kids, or try it for lunch. Here’s what you need to eat.

Cooking Classes – Cooking classes are such a fun thing to do as a family! Alpharetta is brimming with opportunities at Sur la Table inside Northpoint Mall, Apron’s at the Alpharetta Publix, and Salud! Within Whole Foods Alpharetta, near Avalon.

Da Vinci’s Donuts – OMG, the Maple Bacon. YUM! Bring the kiddos as your excuse for a sweet treat. There are pre-made gourmet flavors, classic favorites, OR you can design your own by selecting Drizzles, Icings and Toppings.

Disc Golf at Wills Park – Wills Park has a great playground and it’s fun to watch the periodic horse shows, but for families we highly recommend the 18-hole disc golf course. If you don’t want to play yourself (why not???) then you can watch state and regional tournaments. FREE.

Geocaching – Geocaching is such a fun way to explore a new city, or learn about hidden gems in a familiar one. There are dozens and dozens of caches here, including one that the city added! FREE.

Goldberg’s Bagel Company and Deli – Another great location for breakfast or lunch, Goldberg’s offers superior New York style eats.

Jekyll Brewing – If you escape without the kiddos, then make your way to Jekyll Brewing for a tour and some samples from an award-winning Brew Master.

LEGO Store – If your kiddos love LEGOs then visit the LEGO Store at North Point Mall. There are monthly mini model builds and more. FREE

Main Event – Rainy days are great for escaping to the indoors where you can enjoy bowling, laser tag, mini golf, rock climbing, and so much more.

Matilda’s Music Under The Pines – If you are looking for the perfect place to enjoy live music in Alpharetta, whether for a fun date night idea for couples or a family-friendly night out, this is perfect! It is located in the “backyard” of Matilda’s Art Cottage, which houses fabulous eclectic art off Main Street in Alpharetta. Not FREE but very AFFORDABLE.

South Main – This is where we ate dinner on our Family Date Night, and I hope to write a full review soon. It’s a farm-to-table experience with just incredible fare. They also have a kiddo menu, which got two-thumbs up from my picky eaters. In fact, I loved it so much that I tried to get it into a food magazine I am writing (but just missed the deadline.) Yes – get there!

Sunday Polo at Chukkar Farms – Polo begins in September, every Sunday at 2pm. Bring a blanket, food & drink of your choice, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon watching polo! There’s a playground for children and restrooms. It’s $20 per car, so bring the friends and pile in.

The El Felix –  Ford Fry delivers in Alpharetta at Avalon, with yummy Mexican fare for date night or with the whole family.

TopGolf – Topgolf is SO MUCH FUN! There’s a KidZone, and you can play the Topgolf game, which is exciting even if you’re not a golfer. The food is not too shabby, and they even have weekend brunch.

Urban Escape Games – Enter a themed game room, with an hour to escape. Use clues, solve puzzles, and rack codes for an action-packed hour of fun.

Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre – Also where we took our Family Date Night, you can enjoy concerts here either on the lawn or at a table. This is also the location of Alpharetta’s FREE Northside Hospital’s Movies in the Park.

Webb Bridge Park – Webb Bridge is one of our favorite parks in the area. In the summer there is nothing like playing in the water feature, or building a huge sand castle.

Sometimes the best things only come around once a year! Mark your calendar for these can’t miss annual Alpharetta events. And if you’d rather not drive, you can take Lyft. And to sweeten the deal, we’re giving you $50 in Lyft credits to get yourself a driver for the evening. (must be a first time Lyft customer)

Too bad you didn’t include ACT1 Theater in Alpharetta. It’s a volunteer driven community theater that has been producing family friendly shows for 20+ years. It’s the only theater in the 2016 ACVB promotional literature. Anyone can participate and there’s no fee unlike many other local programs. Still, thanks for a great list for us to try this fall!
